New This Week In Comics 5/18-5/24

Mini reviews are finally back! I want to apologize for missing the last couple of weeks due to person reasons they was missing. In this week’s books we follow a team of hackers into bringing down the big man and dive into the craziness of Secret Wars. This week’s books include The Tithe from Image Comics as well as Ultimate end and A-Force from Marvel comics. Lets not waste any more time and dive into this week’s new books!

The Tithe #2
Written by Matt Hawkins Art by Rahsan Ekedal
The Tithe has quickly become my favorite read each month. The Image title by Hawkins and Ekedal has killed it once again. In this issue we learn more about the Samaritan hackers and how the group has different motivations. The Samaritans are lead by Sam an amazing hacker who has a mission to bring down corrupt super churches even if it means helping the FBI to do it. The two agents in this book are Dwayne Campbell a family man with christian values and James Howard a technology savvy agent may or may not agree with what the Samaritans are doing. This book has a little bit of everything from drugs, violence and even a ride in a hearse. While I admit this book my not be for everyone I think it is fabulous! If you are a fan of Anonymous type stories or even a deeper look into how super churches work this book is for you!

Ultimate End #1
Written by Brian Michael Bendis Art by Mark Bagley
When the solicits for Secret Wars was dropped a few months ago the book I was most excited about was Ultimate End. While I am not a long time reader of the Ultimate Universe I have grown to be a huge fan of Miles Morales. While Miles does not show up in issue one of the series it was still an exciting read. The Avengers and the The Ultimates are joined together to figure out how to get both groups home and off Battleworld. Both versions of Tony Stark battle it out about who is responsible for the rip in time that started it all. Even though Miles doesn’t show I really enjoyed the jokes with Spider-Man from the 616. He has real problems with the fact that everyone knows he is Peter Parker. Bendis did an amazing job writing for Peter and both teams. It was amazing seeing Bagley back on an Ultimate book and seeing him draw Spider-Man again. I feel this is going to be an amazing book and important the future of the Ultimates and all of Secret Wars.

A-Force #1
Written by Marguerite Bennett and G. Willow Wilson Art by Jorge Molina
What do you get when you have She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Dazzler and Ms. America on an island? You get A-Force! A-Force is an all female group of heroes lead by She-Hulk. While working to protect their home island one of their heroes breaks the law of God Doom. The team must deal with the loss of one of their members and figure out who is behind the attacks. This is a great book for everyone as it has heroes of all ages from female Loki to Spider-Women. The writing team does a great job adding in one liners and really makes you feel for the characters in this introductory issue. While I’m normally not a team book kind of person I will admit A-Force is a book I can get get behind and I think you will enjoy as well!
