It’s that time of year that comic book fans look forward to more than any, Comic Con Season. Now that cons aren’t just exclusive to large population areas such as San Diego or New York fans can meet more of their idols. These cons have something for everyone if your a fan of comics, gaming, movies, television there is something for you! The Marble City Comic Con in Knoxville, TN is no exception!
Marble City will be taking place at the Knoxville Expo Center this weekend, April 25-26. They are following a very successful 2014 convention which helped kick of this annual convention. This year the convention will be featuring guest such as comic creators Joe Rubinstein, Rick Ketcham, Rico Renzi, and many more. There will also be tons of great media guest such as Lisa Loring from the Addams Family, Michael Copon and Jason Faunt of Power Rangers fame. The convention also features voice actors, directors and much more.
One of the most exciting parts of Marble City Comic Con are the amazing CosPlayers. This year they will be featuring professionals such as Bewitched Raven, Ashley Phoenix, and an entire group of steam punk themed cosplayers. There will also be panels on cosplaying and even a cosplay contest with cash prizes!
The promoters of this convention are proud to make this affordable family fun for all ages. To make this possible tickets start at $20 a day or $35 for the weekend. On top of that children 10 and under get in free!
If you are planning on attending and this is your first Comic Con here are some tips for a more enjoyable experience.
- Wear comfortable and drink plenty of water.
This may sound like an obvious thing but you would be surprised. You will be on your feet all day (possibly waiting in line) you want to wear something that will make it a more enjoyable time.
- Don’t be upset that you have to wait in line.
While conventions do there best to keep lines moving but with large crowds comes waiting in line some time.
- Bring plenty of CASH.
While more and more vendors are beginning to accept credit and debt cards at conventions most don’t. It is best to have cash on hand prior to getting to the convention. While there may be an ATM on site it will most likely run out of cash before you know it. It’s better to be safe then sorry!
- Bring a backpack or something to store your goods in.
Again this may sound obvious but sometime at your first convention you will forget these things. They come in handy when you purchase tons of awesome comics and collectible at the convention you need some where to store them. This is why a back pack is a must.
- Be kind to people in CosPlay.
Don’t forget CosPlayers are people who have paid to have a good time at the convention as well. While most of them do not mind you taking a photo of their work you should ask first! Don’t just go snapping a photo of some one in costume in an unflattering position. Treat them as you would want to be treated.
- Lastly have fun.
Comic Con is the one place everyone can be themselves and have fun. You will have people of all walks of life celebrating their favorite geekdom and you should too. Do it safe and responsibly but have a good time!
It’s going to be an exciting 2015 Marble City Comic Con and we hope to see you there!
